Stephen Avenue construction just crossed into a new phase
During construction, access to businesses will be maintained with temporary ramp bridges in places to help customers navigate around the work zones.
If you’re worried about construction affecting the beloved patio season or any Stampede festivities on Stephen Avenue, there’s no need to worry. The City says that construction will pause for the summer, and patios on Stephen Avenue will be able to open in time for Stampede 2026.
The new phase also includes a new raised intersection at Centre Street and 8th Avenue SE. Construction on this intersection is expected to take place in Fall 2026.
During construction, the intersection will be closed for approximately four weeks, depending on the weather, starting in late September or early October.
