Family Day at the Burnaby Village Museum

Big Bang Festival
What: Music on Main and Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre are teaming up for the Big Bang Festival, a day of musical adventure for children ages 5 and up.
The immersive festival will be a journey through music and sound art, with mini-concerts, interactive activities, and more to discover. There will also be free activities like face painting, a Bounce House, and a carnival band.

Family Day Weekend at Grouse Mountain
What: Grouse Mountain invites all ages to enjoy its Family Day Weekend, where children ages 12 and under receive free mountain admission and lift tickets.
There will be daily family activities from Saturday to Monday, including crafts, owl talks, and a scavenger hunt with a prize draw entry. You can even go on family snowshoe tours (bookings required), and checkout the fireworks display on Saturday and Sunday at 6 p.m.
Other fun activities include a DJ skate party on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m., an outdoor pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. by donation to Family Services of the North Shore, and a hockey shoot-out at the Mountaintop Skating Pond from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vancouver will be celebrating winter sports and its Olympic legacy from Feb. 15 to Feb. 16, alongside a scenic, waterfront backdrop at Jack Poole Plaza.
Interactive demos from Curling Canada and Hockey Canada give fans a chance to try their hand at Olympic-style activities. There will also be activities for sporting fans of all ages to try.

What: Thousands of visitors are expected to flock to the three-day celebration at the Vancouver Convention Centre, drawing in fans of sci-fi, horror, comic books, and everyone in between. There will also be lots for the little ones to enjoy at this year’s Fan Expo.
The epic lineup of celebrity guests includes Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings), Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk (Smallville), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), and many more.
The cast of Twilight will also be doing a historic reunion while they are in Vancouver.

Britannia Mine Museum – Ores & Orcas
What: Britannia Mine Museum hosts Ores & Orcas – Howe Sound /Átl’ḵa7tsem: A Recovering Ecosystem until February 2026. Guests will be able to explore how copper contamination impacted the marine food chain from plankton to predators and discover how remediation efforts protect the important ecosystem.
The temporary exhibit also showcases specimens from the Howe Sound ecosystem, including the skeleton of a real killer whale.

What: The City of Burnaby has a variety of Family Day events lined up, including two skate sessions. Drop by Bill Copeland Sports Centre from 1 to 3:15 p.m. for a family skate, crafts, and face painting.
