Fraser Highway segment reopens after eight months, with Green Timbers SkyTrain station now overhead
This prolonged closure was required to safely and efficiently construct Green Timbers Station, the only station along the 16-km-long, eight-station extension to be built directly above the roadway. Its structural support columns span both the median and the sides of Fraser Highway, whereas all other stations along the route are located beside the roadway.
Similar to the design of Brentwood Town Centre Station on the Millennium Line, Green Timbers Station features a mezzanine level directly above the roadway, which provides the ingress and egress to the station platforms. The station entrance is located on the north side of Fraser Highway.

By a wide margin, Green Timbers Station now has the most advanced construction progress of any station.
However, due to ongoing construction, traffic pattern changes on this segment of Fraser Highway will continue through 2028 — generally with a single vehicle lane of traffic in each direction on Fraser Highway between 140th Street and 96th Avenue, with travel lanes shifted based on the location of the work. Left turn restrictions will remain in place for Fraser Highway southbound onto 140th Street and 140th Street eastbound onto Fraser Highway. The segment will continue to be fully closed to pedestrians and cyclists.

In November 2025, the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extension project marked its first anniversary of the start of major construction work.
There is highly visible construction progress along the route between the existing King George Station and the future Langley City Centre Station terminus. Structural columns supporting the elevated guideway and stations have popped up, and all four special gantry crane machines have been launched to install thousands of pre-fabricated concrete guideway segments.
If all goes as planned, elevated guideway construction will reach completion in mid-2027, and station construction and related work will finish in late 2028. Railway tracks and electrical and automated train control systems installation will begin in Spring 2026 and end in late 2028. Full system testing and commissioning will begin in late 2026 in preparation for the late 2029 opening.
Along the elongated Expo Line, a one-train ride between Langley City Centre Station and Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver will be 65 minutes, while the trip between Langley City Centre Station and King George Station will be 22 minutes.
