New restaurants among 21 businesses confirmed to open at Gilmore Place in Burnaby's Brentwood district
The first level — strategically on the same level as the street-level entrance into the on-site Gilmore Station on SkyTrain’s Millennium Line — is entirely leased to food and beverage businesses, including T&T Supermarket.
As first reported by Daily Hive Urbanized in May 2024, T&T Supermarket will be an anchor business at Gilmore Place, occupying 55,000 sq. ft. of space — making it one of the chain’s larger stores, featuring the full range of the Asian supermarket’s assortment, including in-store prepared food.
T&T Supermarket had intended to open its Gilmore Place location this summer. However, upon inquiry, a spokesperson with the chain told Daily Hive Urbanized on Monday the opening is now delayed due to construction, with a new targeted date yet to be publicly established.

The first level’s breezeway, where the supermarket will be located, will also be home to Suntea Bubble Tea, La Ruota Authentic Neopolitan Pizza, Subway, Kinton Ramen, Galbi Korean BBQ, and Trees Organic Coffee and Cheesecake. Trees’ cafe location is strategically closest and highly visible from the station entrance.
Other food outlets confirmed for the complex entail Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, which fronts Gilmore Avenue, and Big Way Hot Pot and KFC, which face Lougheed Highway.
As for the remaining businesses that are confirmed, the list entails Happy Gilmore Golf Lounge, Club Pilates, Sabai Thai Spa, BMO, Supplement King, Seed & Stone Cannabis, Major City Vapes N Smokes, Deka Lash, Prince Barbershop, and Gilmore Family Dental.

Last week, Daily Hive Urbanized also reported Fitness World will open a 36,000 sq. ft. flagship fitness gym location on the third level of the commercial base podium — within a space originally envisioned as office space.
As of the time of writing, some of the largest remaining unleased commercial spaces entail 28,700 sq. ft. and 9,670 sq. ft. retail units on the second level, and 21,314 sq. ft. and 21,434 sq. ft. office units on the third level.
As well, there are four potential optimal restaurant locations on the second level — all fronting the linear public plaza directly below SkyTrain’s elevated guideway — including some smaller units that could be consolidated into larger spaces, and each featuring an expansive outdoor patio opportunity. Currently, without the need for consolidation, the largest available optimal restaurant unit is an attractive 9,670 sq. ft. corner space within a central plaza area.
Altogether, the first phase of Gilmore Place features about 270,000 sq. ft. of retail, restaurant, and office space, making it the second largest retail hub in Burnaby’s Brentwood district after The Amazing Brentwood mall. Future phases of Gilmore Place immediately to the east of the SkyTrain station will add more commercial uses to this high-density, mixed-use complex.

As tenant improvements in the shell commercial units reach completion and businesses begin to open, a steady flow of pedestrian traffic is expected to flow through the complex’s porous and expansive public spaces.
Supplement King recently became the first business to open at Gilmore Place, marking the beginning of the development’s retail rollout. This will soon be followed by the opening of Trees Organic Coffee and Cheesecake in August 2025, with other businesses such as KFC, Sabai Thai Spa, Galbi Korean BBQ, and Big Way Hot Pot expected to open shortly after.
In particular, the diagonal, retail-lined linear public plaza serves as a key pedestrian connection between Gilmore Station — located at the intersection of Gilmore Avenue and Dawson Street — and Lougheed Highway.
If fully realized, plans for major restaurants with patios would further animate and energize this prominent public space.

Moreover, the public areas across all three levels of Gilmore Place feature extensive seating, clearly designed to encourage people not just to pass through, but to linger.
This includes fixed seating seamlessly integrated around the columns of the SkyTrain guideway within the plaza, as well as movable seating options. The area beneath the guideway also doubles as weather protection for both the walking path and seating zones, creating a more comfortable and inviting atmosphere year-round.
At some point, the developer will also complete some improvements to Gilmore Station, particularly the construction of a new permanent roof over the station platforms — replacing the existing slender canopies built in the early 2000s, which were intended to be temporary to enable the flexibility of integrating a future development with the station.
The scope of Gilmore Place’s commercial uses and amenities take into account the area’s long-term projected growth. Thousands of homes are still to come at Gilmore Place alone for its future phases, with thousands more planned for the surrounding Brentwood district — potentially adding tens of thousands of residents to the area.
The first three towers in Gilmore Place’s completed first phase have a combined total of approximately 1,600 condominium homes.
