<p>The Year in Search 2025 <a href="https://trends.withgoogle.com/year-in-search/2025/ca/?hl=en-US" target="_blank">report</a> by Google reveals the events, topics, shows, and trends that captured Canadians&#8217; attention, offering a snapshot of what the country was looking up online. Among those trends, the report also highlights the people Canadians searched for the most.</p>

<p>Not surprisingly, Prime Minister Mark Carney was the most searched person after he became the country&#8217;s <a href="https://dailyhive.com/canada/mark-carney-canada-prime-minister-facts" target="_blank">24th prime minister</a> in March.</p>

<p>In addition to politics, Canadians were clearly curious about the macabre as they looked up information on Ed Gein, the second most searched person on Google. The American serial killer was the subject of the Netflix anthology series <em class="eujQNb">Monster, </em>starring Charlie Hunnam as Gein.</p>

<p>Canadians tuned into the story involving Jimmy Kimmel — the third most searched person in 2025 — after his talk show <i>Jimmy Kimmel Live!</i> was briefly suspended following a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ATqJc2MjDY" target="_blank">monologue</a> where he poked fun at Donald Trump&#8217;s reaction to the assassination of right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk.</p>
<p>&#8220;This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend; this is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, okay?&#8221; said Kimmel.</p>

<p>Interestingly, the fifth most Googled person in Canada wasn&#8217;t even a celebrity.</p>
<p>Canadians were definitely caught up in the Coldplay extramarital drama, searching for former Astronaut CEO Andy Byron, who was caught cuddling Astronaut&#8217;s chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, on the band&#8217;s kiss cam. Byron awkwardly ducked away from view as Cabot turned away.</p>
