The Toronto Blue Jays found themselves once again in second place on Tuesday night.
A little over a week after the end of the World Series, the results came in for American League Manager of the Year, with the Cleveland Guardians&#8217; Stephen Vogt winning the award for the second season in a row.
And while Blue Jays fans have had their qualms with him over the years, they appeared stunned that Toronto manager John Schneider didn&#8217;t win after taking a last-place team from a year ago to the verge of winning the World Series.

Blue Jays fans weren&#8217;t exactly hiding their displeasure with the results, which were voted on by a league-wide media panel.
&#8220;The RCMP and the FBI should be conducting an investigation into this. How the hell was John Schneider not voted manager of the year in the American League? Utter nonsense,&#8221; X user <a href="https://x.com/dannogallagher7/status/1988588820158357532">@dannogallagher7 wrote</a>.

Vogt received 17 first-place votes, compared to 10 for Schneider.

A few media members also shared their opinion, who appeared to be similarly dumbfounded by the results.
&#8220;John Schneider got absolutely robbed,&#8221; Just Baseball&#8217;s <a href="https://x.com/peterappel23/status/1988413542253592712">Peter Appel wrote on X</a>. &#8220;The Jays had a 76.5 preseason win total and won 94 games. Preseason majority assumed a last-place finish, like they did the year before. Just terrible. Makes no sense.&#8221;
&#8220;John Schneider got absolutely robbed, give me a break, man,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/jesserubinoff/status/1988411387136315497">Sportsnet&#8217;s Jesse Rubninoff also said</a>, expressing a verbatim disbelief as Appel.
In any case, Schneider himself probably won&#8217;t lose too much sleep over the result, given that he seems to have always approached the sport with a &#8220;put yesterday behind you&#8221; approach.
But if the Jays have another good year next year, expect Toronto fans to be backing their guy once again when the season comes to an end.
