Multiple road closures across Metro Vancouver to impact traffic this week
Drivers in Vancouver are warned that Cambie Street will be completely closed to all vehicle traffic between West 41st Avenue and West 45th Avenue from Monday, March 16, to Wednesday, March 18.
Closures will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. for the “complex and time-sensitive work” at the Oakridge Park development site.
“VPD will be on-site directing traffic,” said the City of Vancouver in a release. “Please follow all detours and abide by ‘No Parking’ and ‘No Stopping’ signs in the area.
“If you have upcoming spring break travel or are travelling to the airport or ferry terminal during these closure periods, please plan an alternate route and allow extra travel time.”
Only one lane will get through in each direction on Cambie Street between West 41st Avenue and West 45th Avenue from Thursday, March 19, to Saturday, March 21, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Roads will then fully reopen to traffic when the crane dismantling is complete.
After well over half a decade of major construction activity on the single largest mixed-use residential and commercial building development project in Vancouver’s history, the city is nearing the much-anticipated return of its second major shopping centre (after CF Pacific Centre in downtown Vancouver), completely rebuilt in a dramatically expanded and entirely new form.

In January, we reported that construction on the first phase of Oakridge Park was entering its final and most visually striking phase, with the massive redevelopment rapidly taking shape and edging closer to completion.
The mall, previously named Oakridge Centre, is now just months away from opening.
In Coquitlam, Metro Vancouver is building the Dewdney Trunk Road Water Main – Mariner Way Section to “meet the growing demand for high-quality drinking water in the region.”
The area will see several traffic impacts starting on Monday, March 16, including Sharpe Street being closed at Dewdney Trunk Road for approximately two weeks.

Metro Vancouver
There will be partial lane closures along Dewdney Trunk Road between Mariner Way and Norman Avenue for an estimated two weeks.
And no right turns will be allowed from Dewdney onto Mariner during work hours on March 16 and 17.
“Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should expect increased wait times,” stated Metro Vancouver in a traffic advisory. “Traffic control personnel and signage will be in place to ensure safety.
“Please plan an alternate route if possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding while this essential work is completed.”
