Scandinavian brand Peak Performance opens Vancouver flagship store
This newly-opened Peak Performance store occupies a 4,060 sq. ft. space previously occupied by Arc’teryx at 813 Burrard St., which opened in 2017, replacing Le Chateau. This past summer, Arc’teryx relocated its flagship store to a new replacement space within the former longtime Roots flagship space at 1001 Robson St., while Roots reopened its flagship location within the former Peloton Showroom at 919 Robson St.
Peak Performance and Arc’teryx have the same parent company, Finland-based Amer Sports. The North American headquarters of Peak Performance is in North Vancouver, which is also the global headquarters of Arc’teryx.
“While the Kitsilano store was introduced as a ‘concept store,’ the new Burrard Street location takes things a step further. This isn’t just a commercial expansion, it’s a statement. Burrard represents a bold step forward for our brand in North America, offering guests the most immersive Peak Performance experience to date,” said Marcus Grönberg, the Vancouver-based vice president of global expansion for Peak Performance, in a statement.
“Our aim not only in North America but also globally is to be recognized as a leader in technical outerwear at the intersection of performance and style. The city of Vancouver, especially the welcoming Kitsilano community, has embraced us from day one. Thanks to the incredible response, we’re proud to expand with a second location.”

Completely departing from the retail unit’s previous interior design for Arc’teryx, the store showcases a Scandinavian-inspired design featuring bright interiors, light wood accents, and a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Shoppers will also have access to personalized guidance from in-store ambassadors and services such as free repairs, as well as a lineup of high-energy community events.
In recent years, the retail area in and around the intersection of Robson Street and Burrard Street has seen a growing concentration of sports and athleisure clothing retailers, such as the openings of the 35,000 sq. ft. new adidas Vancouver flagship, the expanded lululemon flagship, the new Athleta store (Gap’s athleisure brand), and the new JD Sports flagship.
Robson Village (the retail district on Robson Street west of Burrard Street) is still in the process of seeing change and a turnover of tenants.
In 2027, Aritzia is expected to vacate its 13,000 sq. ft. location at the southwest corner of the intersection of Robson Street and Thurlow Street, as it will be opening a new 40,000 sq. ft. flagship location within a portion of the former Nordstrom department store at CF Pacific Centre mall.
