Roots opens new Robson Street flagship store in downtown Vancouver
This new store spans about 4,000 sq. ft., filling in spaces previously occupied by the Peloton and Tesla showrooms. This is comparable to the size of Roots’ previous flagship store in the area.
The new replacement location features the retailer’s new modern store design concept, which was first introduced to the Roots flagship store at CF Toronto Eaton Centre last year. The store also boasts design elements that are a nod to Vancouver’s unique character, blending nature-inspired motifs and the use of technology.

This includes a preserved moss wall and a custom moss beaver sculpture that pays tribute to Roots’ iconic logo inspired by Canada’s landscapes, a custom lightbox ceiling installation featuring an illuminated photo of Stanley Park, a canoe-shaped light fixture, and a large panel screen near the fitting rooms that features scenic visuals inspired by Vancouver’s spirit of nature and adventure.
As well, the store has two large digital “holographic” screens that activate the storefront. This is the only Roots store to feature such screens.

With the opening of the new flagship store, Roots will still maintain its two other downtown Vancouver locations, situated at 1153 Robson St. (near Thurlow Street) and CF Pacific Centre mall.
“For us, we believe we have a strong existing footprint. We have a couple of places where we might move locations to kind of take advantage of the different retail traffic and nodes in different places,” Meghan Roach, the president and CEO of Roots, told Daily Hive Urbanized in a previous interview.
“But more broadly, we feel really good about our overall footprint, and we feel a lot of it is about right-sizing stores and that could be increasing the size of the stores.”

As for Roots’ former flagship location at 1001 Robson Street — situated at the northwest corner of the intersection of Burrard Street and Robson Street — which first opened within the 1911-built building in the late 1990s, it is currently in the process of being completely overhauled into Arc’teryx’s new replacement and expanded flagship store. This new Arc’teryx store will span 6,430 sq. ft., including the consolidation of the adjacent former La Vie en Rose space. It is expected to open later in Summer 2025.
This past spring, there were two other prominent store openings in the immediate area — JD Sports’ flagship store at 1042 Robson St., replacing Club Monaco, and the full-line luxury Ralph Lauren store at 1026 Alberni St., replacing Brooks Brothers. This is Canada’s second Ralph Lauren store — not to be confused for the outlet brand of Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store.
