Snoop Dogg used to hang with Big Country and other Vancouver Grizzlies
“I hung out with those guys,” Snoop Dogg told Bublé.
“I shot a movie called Bones, and the Lakers played the Grizzlies, and I lived in an apartment. Mike Bibby lived on top, ‘Big Country’ [Bryant] Reaves lived on the bottom, and those were my guy, guys.”
Snoop Dogg starred in the 2001 movie Bones, which was filmed in Vancouver between March and May of 2000, according to IMDb.
The movie wasn’t received well critically, but Snoop reflects fondly on the film over 20 years after its release.
@letterboxd To mark the 23rd anniversary of Ernest R. Dickerson’s Bones today, we asked star Snoop Dogg for a few words about the film’s legacy. Bones is one of Letterboxd’s “highest risers”—films whose average ratings have been consistently rising over the years. #fyp #foryou #film #letterboxd #movie #snoopdogg ♬ original sound – Letterboxd
Although Snoop Dogg has appeared in over 300 on-screen roles, Bones was one of the first films where he appeared on screen as a character, other than himself.
The 53-year-0ld was also in Vancouver earlier this year when he performed at the BC Lions home opener back on June 7.
As for his relationship with the former Grizzlies, this isn’t the first time Snoop Dogg has supported one of the aforementioned players publicly. The international rap icon was spotted wearing a Bibby jersey at a concert in Sacramento back in 2023.

Bibby spent seven of his 14 NBA seasons with the Kings, after being traded by the Grizzlies on June 27, 2001. He was originally drafted by Vancouver second overall in 1998.
Reeves was the Grizzlies’ first-ever draft pick, selected sixth overall back in 1995. He spent all six of his NBA seasons with Vancouver before retiring due to chronic back pain.
