The Visitor Paid Parking program began in 2017 and was created to reduce the tax burden on residents by generating revenue from visitors. Funds collected have typically supported downtown upkeep, maintenance, and enhanced enforcement, with a reserve set aside for lakefront initiatives. 

According to the council report, the town has renewed its service agreement with Hot Spot Parking, a company that manages and enforces pay parking programs, which is expected to generate significantly higher revenue this year. 

Council is also recommending an update to the town’s Reserve Policy to allow the fund to not only be used for lakefront projects but also for parking program costs and tourism incentives connected to the lakefront.
