Violent Vancouver offender who cut off ankle monitor released back into community
On March 2, VPD detectives and District 5 officers tracked the violent offender in a hotel in Gastown on Water Street.
“McIntosh tried to escape by jumping out of a window,” explained VPD Sergeant Adam Donaldson in a release.
“Fortunately, our officers planned for that scenario, and he was taken into custody with the help of a police dog.”
McIntosh has 49 criminal convictions dating back to 2004, including 11 for violence or weapons. Many of them involve violence toward women and possession of firearms.
“Women in this community are safer now that this offender has been arrested,” added Donaldson at the time of the arrest.
VPD added that McIntosh was held in custody for a breach of a conditional sentence order hearing that took place on Wednesday, March 18.
“The court ultimately decided to release him back into the community to serve his sentence with another ankle monitor, rather than keep him in custody,” said the police department.
It has been a busy time for police across Metro Vancouver.
A sticky method used by thieves to break into apartment buildings has been discovered by residents in New Westminster, the second city in the region to be hit by the “suspicious” activity.

In a public advisory released earlier this month, the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) urged residents to be on the alert.
This comes after glue markings were found on apartment doors in a multi-family building located on the 200 block of 11th Street.
And a man has been charged in connection with a string of stranger assaults against women in Vancouver, according to information shared by the VPD.
Vancouver police have released a photo of the suspect and are hoping anyone with more information comes forward.
An investigation began on Jan. 29, 2025, when a woman was assaulted by a man she didn’t know. At the time, she was walking near Granville and Dunsmuir Street.
