WestJet has temporarily suspended more flights from Canada to the United States.
In the last two months, WestJet <a href="https://dailyhive.com/calgary/westjet-flight-routes-alberta-edmonton-calgary" target="_blank" rel="noopener">axed flights on two U.S. routes from Alberta</a> and <a href="https://dailyhive.com/calgary/westjet-flight-routes-alberta-edmonton-calgary" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vancouver</a>. The airline&#8217;s list continues to grow as fewer Canadians travel down south.
&#8220;The downward shift in transborder travel demand has caused WestJet to further update its schedule to include nine temporary route suspensions to U.S. destinations for various portions of the summer,&#8221; a spokesperson told Daily Hive.
The decline may be due to the ongoing <a href="https://dailyhive.com/canada/carney-trump-white-house-meeting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Canada-U.S. trade war</a>, as many Canadians show their support for the country by <a href="https://dailyhive.com/canada/tariffs-canada-travel-to-us-cancel-boycott" target="_blank" rel="noopener">refusing to travel south of the border</a>. So much so that last month, Canadian travel to the U.S. <a href="https://dailyhive.com/toronto/canadian-travel-to-us-plummets" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dropped by nearly 900,000</a>.
&#8220;WestJet continuously evaluates and adjusts its schedule to meet demand and remains committed to reviewing opportunities for direct service on these routes in the future,&#8221; stated the spokesperson.
