After launching in the States, Burger King is bringing some “major menu upgrades” to stores across Canada, including an elevated Whopper.
“The Whopper has always set the standard for flame-grilled taste, and now that standard applies to everything we serve. Canadians who haven’t visited us in a while or have never been are in for an amazing experience, and those who come in every week are going to love these elevated twists on their favourite items,” said Tom Curtis, president of Burger King U.S. and Canada, in a press release.
So what exactly makes this new version of the Whopper elevated? Well, Burger King shared that this new burger will feature more than a 1/4 lb of 100 per cent flame-grilled beef, hand-cut produce, and a premium, better-tasting bun.
The handheld will also be served in a box to help ensure the sandwich makes it to guests “exactly the way it left the kitchen.”

But the Whopper isn’t the only change coming to Burger King’s menu. It will now be serving shoestring fries, which it says are “perfectly salted and engineered for the ideal balance of crispy outside with the potato’s natural texture and fluffy inside.” Also new are chicken nuggets with chicken sourced from Canadian farms and coated in a new crispy tempura-style batter, and onion rings, also served in a tempura batter and made with real onion slices.
These new, upgraded classics are available at Burger King restaurants across Canada starting March 31, 2026.
But is there really a difference when it comes to this new Whopper? Folks in a Reddit thread on r/BurgerKing definitely seem to think so.

“Had one yesterday for the first time in a while. Agree they are better now!” said one user.
“This new one I ate was juicier meat, better bun, and wasn’t cold. All improvements,” added another.
“To me it’s better, what made it taste better was it had a better bun and better mayo. It seemed like the patty was seasoned, which I’ve never experienced on a Burger King burger before,” shared a third.

However, a few are still skeptical.
“It’s still not as good as a like a nice sit-down burger joint, but it’s half the price and has risen back to the top of my list of ‘fast food burgers through a window,'” said one person.
“I tried it yesterday. It was the same as last week. The week before. It was meh. Pretty packaging and it was hot, other than that it was just okay,” shared another.
“Tried it again because of all the posts, was disappointed as it was not that much different from the original. I might not be the best reference, as I have never liked Burger King, but I thought the posts regarding Burger King’s improvements would make me a believer. It didn’t, not terrible, but I wouldn’t try it again moving forward,” added a third.
