The FIFA World Cup started to feel like more of a reality for soccer fans in Canada on Saturday.
Canada battled against Iceland at the recently expanded BMO Field in Toronto. They clawed back from an early 2-0 deficit, with Jonathan David scoring on two penalty kicks to help Canada earn a 2-2 draw.

That wasn’t the only news to come from Canada Soccer on Saturday.
During the match at BMO Field, Canada Soccer dropped a new slogan for the team ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

Canada is going with the slogan “Our Game Now,” ahead of a World Cup where 13 games will be played between BMO Field (Toronto Stadium) and BC Place in Vancouver.
“We wanted our Federation and players to show up and match the scale of what Canadians are about to experience this summer,” Canada Soccer Chief Communications and Content Officer Paulo Senra said in a press release.
“For decades, fans across our country have built this game into something bigger than just a sport. Soccer is part of everyday life and community for so many of us. This new brand campaign celebrates that legacy while declaring that Canada has another sport to call our own.”
Canada Soccer says the campaign will be prominent through Canada’s remaining three matches before the FIFA World Cup begins on June 11.
There’s another friendly coming up on Tuesday, March 31, when Canada will take on Tunisia at BMO Field. They’ll have two more tune-up matches in June. One is against Uzbekistan on June 1 in Edmonton, the other against Ireland on June 5 in Montreal.
The first FIFA World Cup game for Canada will be on June 12 at BMO Field, where they’ll take on the winner of Italy or Bosnia and Herzegovina from UEFA Group A. Those two teams will play a winner-take-all match for a berth in the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, March 31 at 2:45 p.m. EDT/11:45 a.m. PDT.
