Victor Mancini is getting a bump in pay.
The Vancouver Canucks defenceman signed a two-year contract extension, worth $1 million per season, the team announced on Friday. Mancini is in the final year of his entry-level contract, which carries a $870,000 cap hit before performance bonuses. He was scheduled to become a restricted free agent.
The 23-year-old from Hancock, Michigan, was part of the return in the J.T. Miller trade last season and went on to become one of the Abbotsford Canucks’ standout players during their Calder Cup championship run.
“Victor has fit in nicely with our organization,ā said Canucks GM Patrik Allvin. “He was a key part of our Calder Cup-winning team last year in Abbotsford, and this season he has continued to develop his skill set with the help of our group.
“Depth on the backend is very important for our team moving forward and we are happy to have Victor be a part of the blue-line mix.”
It hasn’t been a banner year for Mancini this season.
Mancini has appeared in just 18 NHL games and is still looking for his first point. Meanwhile, he notched 12 points (4-8-12) in 33 AHL games with Abbotsford.
Mancini’s new deal is a one-way contract, meaning he gets paid the same amount of money whether he’s playing in Vancouver or Abbotsford. His deal is worth $950,000 in 2026-27 and $1,050,000 in 2027-28, per PuckPedia.
This wasn’t the case on Mancini’s entry-level deal, as he was paid just $82.500 while in the minors.
Listed at 6-foot-3 and 229 pounds, Mancini is one of four young defencemen fighting for minutes on Vancouver’s blue line. Zeev Buium (20), Tom Willander (21), and Elias Pettersson (22) are the others.
