If you’re looking for a fun way to spend the weekend with the entire family, head to your local Cineplex.

This January, Cineplex is once again offering family-friendly (and budget-friendly) movies at participating theatres across Canada for just $3.99.

“Weekend plans for the whole gang just got easier!” reads the website. “Our Family Favourites program runs movies on Saturdays, for only $3.99 plus applicable taxes (in-theatre price).”

In addition to taxes, tickets purchased online will include a $1.50 online booking fee. Scene+ members only pay a $1 online booking fee, while that fee is waived for CineClub members.

“Online booking fee allows for advanced seat selection and shareable digital tickets, and applies to the first four tickets purchased in a transaction,” states Cineplex.

Movies are screened at participating locations, so make sure to check ahead. Here are the $3.99 movies coming to theatres in January.

Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller) is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York’s Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock), Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) and Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) have lived their entire lives in blissful captivity, with regular meals provided and an admiring public to adore them.

Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty allows his curiosity to get the better of him and, with the help of some prodigious penguins, makes his escape to explore the world he’s been missing. Alex, Melman and Gloria go after him, but before they can go wild in the streets, they are captured, crated and put on a ship to Africa… to be ultimately set free.

When those plotting penguins sabotage the ship, Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria find themselves washed ashore on the exotic island of Madagascar. Now, these native New Yorkers have to figure out how to survive in the wild and discover the true meaning of the phrase “It’s a jungle out there.”
