Vancouver is getting an 'Elf'-themed dinner and movie experience — complete with spaghetti and candy

Dec 10 2025, 7:12 pm

Buddy the Elf might have some… questionable food choices, to put it lightly (according to him, the four food groups are: “candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup!”). But we have to admit, the candy spaghetti scene in Elf did have us intrigued as children. So, we naturally got excited when we heard that we’d be able to enjoy a version of the dish, plus more special bites, while watching Elf this month in Vancouver.

On Dec. 14 and 21, The Rec Room Granville is hosting a fully immersive dining and movie event where guests will be able to enjoy a special Elf-themed menu served in sync with Buddy the Elf’s most iconic moments from the film.

Guests will start their meal with an espresso martini or coffee piled high with whipped cream and Oreo crumble, inspired by Buddy’s revelation upon finding the “world’s best cup of coffee” when he arrives in New York City.

As for the aforementioned spaghetti, The Rec Room is offering its take on Buddy’s iconic meal. Instead of the pasta topped with maple syrup, chocolate syrup, marshmallows, M&Ms, and crushed Pop-Tarts, guests will be served a sun-dried tomato and goat cheese spaghettini served with a playful side of Buddy’s favourite candy.

Then, powdered sugar mini donuts will be served when Buddy meets up with his brother Michael after school and is swept up in an epic snowball fight.

To wrap up Buddy the Elf’s journey, The Rec Room will celebrate his New York City-style date night with hot dogs and mini pretzels served straight from The Shed, The Rec Room’s casual, quick-service restaurant and bar.

The Elf Eat-Along will take place on Dec. 14 at 6 p.m., and again on Dec. 21 from 12:30 p.m.

Guests must be aged 19+ to attend, and tickets are $38.16 plus tax per person and include featured menu items and the film screening. Additional food and beverages are available for purchase separately.
