A Canadian lottery winner is gearing up to ride off into retirement after he recently won a huge six-figure jackpot prize.

Harold H. of Valemount, B.C., scored a $500,000 Extra prize on the Lotto 6/49 draw held on March 11, 2026.

The North Thompson Valley resident decided to check his ticket with a self-scanner when he was at an IDA Pharmacy.

Harold was immediately left at a loss for words after finding out he matched 4/4 Extra numbers.

“I was kind of all over the place thinking, ‘Is this real?'” said Harold of the life-changing moment.

“I had the cashier at the IDA double-check it for me. I was speechless.”

Harold purchased the winning ticket at the Esso Station on Swift Creek Road in Valemount.

The person that he was most excited to share the good news with was his grandson, who was just as shocked as he was.

“He was flabbergasted,” shared Harold, who added that he plans on going on a motorcycle trip across Canada with his grandson.

Harold also added that he looks forward to being “officially retired” thanks to his windfall.

“Touring across Canada can now be a reality, and my retirement is in place,” he said.

B.C. residents have been lucky in the jackpot lately, with several life-changing wins.
