Some people are just plain lucky, and very few lottery players are as lucky as one Canadian man who’s now celebrating his second win.
Lawrence Wagner, 84, was shocked when he discovered that he had scored another six-figure prize in less than five years. The retired truck driver from Brampton, Ont., said he’s been playing the lottery for four decades.
“I enjoy playing lottery games more because it gives me something to do,” he said.
Wagner recalled his first big win in September 2021, when he scored a $225,000 prize with Instant The Big Spin. While at the OLG Prize Centre to pick up his cheque, he said he was going to put away his money for his grandkids.

“When it landed on Big Spin, I said, ‘What the heck is that? What’s going on?'” he recalled. “I never expected that in my lifetime.”
But it turns out it can happen twice in one lifetime because Wagner is now celebrating his second win. He said he was checking his tickets one morning and was surprised to find out that one of them was a winner.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! There were so many zeros that I didn’t understand what was happening at first,” he said. “I just stood there in silence, frozen in time, trying to process it.”
Wagner won a $100,000 prize in the Feb. 25, 2026, Poker Lotto draw. He immediately shared the news with his son.
“He said, ‘Hello, Dad. It’s 5 a.m., so there better be a good reason you’re calling so early!’ I giggled and told him I won the lottery again!” said the two-time winner. “He was so happy for me.”
He also made sure to tell his grandchildren.

“They have a list of gifts they want from Grandpa,” he said with a chuckle. “Everyone’s excited. It was wonderful sharing the news with them.”
Wagner said he wants to use his winnings to fix his car, finish some home renovations, and share a portion with his grandchildren.
The winning ticket was purchased at Kitchen Food Fair on Chinguacousy Road in Brampton.
