Japanese lifestyle retailer MUJI will soon open a huge new store in Metro Vancouver, and there’s lots for fans of the brand to get excited about.

The Japanese clothing and household goods retailer is building its newest Canadian store at Tsawwassen Mills in Delta that will span over 10,000 sq. ft. Shoppers can expect to find a full range of products from kitchen to apparel and travel necessities.

It will be MUJI‘s fourth store in the region, joining locations in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Richmond. It is part of a strategic investment in the region for the nearly 50-year-old company.

“Expanding our presence in British Columbia has been a strategic priority for us, driven by strong customer demand and a desire to be closer to the communities we serve,” said Richard Rappaport, president of MUJI Canada, in a release.

“Opening at Tsawwassen allows us to engage more closely with Canadian customers and local partners while delivering a MUJI experience that feels thoughtfully rooted in the community.”

MUJI’s first store opening in B.C. since 2020 will feature thousands of different items, including clothing for men, women, and kids; shoes; pens; bags; tablewares and kitchenwares; notebooks; stationery such as pens; unique Japanese snacks; flexible storage options; skincare; diffusers; bedding; bathroom and cleaning essentials; and more.

Shoppers can get their first look inside on the official opening day on Saturday, March 21, at 11 a.m.

The store will be open seven days a week at Tsawwassen Mills, with hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays to Wednesdays, and until 9 p.m. on Thursdays to Saturdays.

MUJI entered the Metro Vancouver market by opening its first store at Metropolis at Metrotown mall in Burnaby in August 2017, in a 7,700 sq ft space that was quickly expanded to 12,300 sq ft with a flagship status in October 2018 due to high demand.

The chain’s second Metro Vancouver store opened on Robson Street in downtown Vancouver in December 2017, in a 14,500 sq ft space that was MUJI’s largest international store outside of Asia at the time.

Muji currently operates over 1,000 stores in over 30 countries around the world.
