'SNL' sketch has Trump calling ICE on Canadian 'Property Brothers'

The latest sketch from NBC’s Saturday Night Live (SNL) pairs United States President Donald Trump and Canada’s Property Brothers, and the result is sheer mayhem.
The sketch, which aired on Nov. 1, stars SNL host actor Miles Teller, who plays both HGTV twins Drew and Jonathan Scott. James Austin Johnson stars as Trump, and Chloe Fineman plays First Lady Melania Trump. Following the home makeover format of the Property Brothers, the segment takes on a highly controversial renovation project: the new White House ballroom.
In the sketch, Trump hires the Scott brothers to take on their “biggest challenge yet,” and they’re tasked with designing a massive ballroom, as Trump apparently loves to dance. Their budget: between $350 million and infinity.

“Donald and Melania moved into this house nine years ago,” explained Drew. “They were evicted for four years, but they went back in.”
The brothers admired the personal touches throughout the home: a portrait of Trump painted as a Halo soldier and hundreds of gold urns. The show also took a dig at Melania’s 2017 Christmas decorations, with Drew appearing to have put his foot in his mouth while admiring Melania’s Halloween decorations.
“Those are for Christmas,” she says, correcting him.
The sketch also poked fun at Bill Clinton and addressed Trump’s mass deportation program.
All was well until Drew asked Trump for payment for the construction.
“Aren’t you from Canada?” asks Trump.
“Yeah,” responds Drew.
“ICE!” Trump shouts, as the brothers are dragged away by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. “There goes ICE. We like ‘em big at ICE.”

The four-minute sketch got the real Jonathan Scott’s attention, who commented, “How is Miles a better me than me?! 😂”

One viewer states, “This is actually comedic gold… is SNL back??”
However, others found it unnervingly close to reality.
“This is a documentary at this point,” writes one viewer.
Another states, “It’s unfortunately more imitation than parody at this point, though, so how much credit can we give the writers? The jokes are writing themselves.”
“So it was really funny until it morphed into reality,” writes a commenter.
In June, nationwide protests erupted as people took to the streets to oppose ICE raids and deportations of immigrants. According to Newsweek, demonstrations were held in major cities such as New York, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Tampa, and San Francisco.
