A chaotic week of Vancouver weather continues with a new wind warning that may make you want to batten down the hatches.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a yellow level alert for parts of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, calling for gusts up to 90 km/h.
The “strong winds that may cause damage” come just a day after much of Vancouver experienced its first snowfall of the season.

“A sharp cold front crossing the south coast will bring very strong wind gusts to south Metro Vancouver regions and the Fraser Valley beginning early this evening,” said ECCC in the weather alert.
“Wind gusts as high as 100 km/h are possible over the eastern Fraser Valley. Even though the strongest winds are expected to ease after midnight, conditions will remain gusty through Thursday.”
ECCC added in its Vancouver wind warning that local utility outages, as well as damage to roofs, fences, branches and soft shelters, may be possible. It encouraged local residents to secure loose objects before the wind hits.

The rest of the week’s forecast is looking wet, with showers and rain for much of the upcoming weekend and into next week.
There is a possibility of a sunny break on Saturday, March 14, though overnight temperatures that evening will dip down to just 1°C.
And it looks like snow will stay away for the time being, with no more white stuff in the current forecast for the region.
