Police in Calgary say they stopped a driver who was going nearly 100 km/h over the posted speed limit on Stoney Trail earlier this month.
The Calgary Police Service (CPS) says at about midnight on Saturday, March 14, 2026, a member stopped a driver going 198 km/h on Stoney Trail near 162nd Avenue SW.
The driver received a mandatory court summons and was also issued a ticket for an improperly displayed licence plate. Speeds of 51 km/h or more over the posted limit result in a mandatory court appearance.
“Speed limits are in place to keep everyone safe. Slow down and drive responsibly,” CPS added on a Facebook post about the incident over the weekend.
