Easter is just around the corner, and those wanting to spend quality time with some adorable bunnies can do so at a hopping spot that recently opened in Richmond.

Cozy Carrots is the city’s first bunny lounge and is located at #171-5951 Minoru Blvd., just a short walk away from the Canada Line Brighouse Station.

According to Vivian, the owner of Cozy Carrots, guests can relax, unwind and catch up with each other amongst the rabbits.

“It is also a place to experience what it’s like to have bunnies as pets, learn about what they eat, what they like to do and how they may behave in a home,” explained Vivian to Daily Hive.

Cozy Carrots has been a dream of Vivian’s for a decade, and she jumped at the opportunity to launch one in her hometown.

“When cat cafes and subsequent animal-themed cafes were becoming popular in Japan, I thought it would be great to operate one with bunnies in Richmond,” said Vivian.

“The vibe is definitely cozy. The Bunny Lounge is a shoes-off area, so guests can really get comfortable and be on floor level with the bunnies.”

There are usually about a dozen bunnies with a variety of personalities at any given time in the lounge, and patrons will be given a cup of veggies to feed them.

Guests can even visit a retail area with rabbit-themed merchandise, and little ones can explore a small library of books and novels about rabbits and try their hand at some colouring sheets.

“We also play movies on certain nights so guests can cuddle with the bunnies while watching a film,” said Vivian.

Guests must be ages four and up to enter the bunny Lounge, and visitors 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

A 30-minute visit is $9 per session, and a 60-minute session is $18.

While food is not permitted in the Bunny Lounge, guests who are visiting for 60 minutes are provided a free beverage of choice.

The bunnies at Cozy Carrots are from Rabbitats Rescue Society, a rescue organization that cares for adoptable and non-adoptable rabbits.

All of the rabbits are also available to be fostered or adopted through Rabbitats.

“It’s a great opportunity to come experience bunnies,” shared Vivian. “Since most people have had exposure to cats and dogs, bunnies are often overlooked as pets, but they are just as lovable and loyal.”
