Harbour Air offering big discount for B.C. travellers this long weekend, with a catch

With B.C. Ferries down two vessels ahead of one of its busiest weekends, a local airline has stepped in to offer a potential solution for people wary of delays.
Many people are expected to travel from the mainland to the island regions that BC Ferries services, but will have to do so without two of its regular ships.
The Spirit of Vancouver Island serves the route between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay and is currently dealing with a generator issue. Meanwhile, the Queen of Surrey, which operates between the Sunshine Coast and Horseshoe Bay, is experiencing delays in return from an annual refit.
Harbour Air is offering 50 per cent discounts on scheduled flights between Vancouver and Victoria and Vancouver and Nanaimo, if they can show proof of a BC Ferries reservation at check-in.
People can use the promo code EASTER2026. The booking window started at 11 a.m. on April 2 and runs until 11:59 p.m. on April 3.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, Daily Hive looked at the Harbour Air site to see what the prices were. A one-way trip between Vancouver Harbour and Victoria Harbour on Friday, April 3
What’s going on with BC Ferries?
BC Ferries CEO Nicolas Jiminez told reporters on Thursday morning that the organization “can’t point to one single solution” that would have helped avoid the situation it’s in.
He said they have an aging fleet of vessels and not enough of them, although they are working on replacing them.
Jiminez added that they’re dealing with a potable water issue that may have been contaminated with E. coli, including more testing, and ensuring that folks aren’t drinking affected water and that kitchen staff aren’t using it to prepare food.
