Several Canadians are $1 million richer after weekend lottery wins

Several Canadians became millionaires over the weekend thanks to successful lottery draws.

All eyes were on Friday’s Lotto Max draw, which had ballooned to $70 million on Friday. Sadly, no one matched all seven of the winning lottery numbers (07, 09, 22, 24, 34, 36, 37, and bonus 19) to win the top prize, nor did anyone nab the $289,736.60 second prize.

Luckily, there were 10 Maxmillions up for grabs. Two lottery players — one from B.C. who bought their ticket on PlayNow, and one from Alberta — matched the winning numbers, taking home $1 million each.

The winning numbers for the PlayNow lottery ticket were 5, 13, 22, 33, 40, 42, 48, and the winning numbers for the ticket sold in Alberta were 7, 24, 27, 38, 40, 42, and 49.

No one won the Lotto Max Extra prize of $500,000.

On Saturday, the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball prize was at $38 million. While the gold ball was not drawn, the 15th white ball was picked, awarding a lottery player from Alberta $1 million. They matched all of the winning numbers: 24621935-01.

The winning numbers for the Classic Draw prize were 15, 18, 24, 36, 39, 40, and bonus 9. No one matched all six to win the $5-million top prize; however, two lottery players from Ontario matched five out of six (including the bonus number) to win the $130,617 second prize.

The wins continued with one person from Armstrong, B.C., taking home the $500,000 Classic Draw Extra prize. The winning lottery numbers were 2, 36, 49, and 90.

If you didn’t beat the odds over the weekend, not to worry. A new week means more chances to win.

The next Lotto Max draw is on Tuesday, March 3. The jackpot increases to $75 million with 12 Maxmillions up for grabs.

On Wednesday, March 4, the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball prize climbs to $40 million. With 15 balls left, a lucky lottery player could win it all.
