A Quebec lottery player was shocked after learning she hit the lottery jackpot.

Stefanie Pepin, a nurse from the Capitale-Nationale region, won the $5 million Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot in the Feb. 18 draw, according to Loto-Québec. The Classic Draw winning numbers were 05, 06, 16, 17, 33, and 44, with bonus 29, and she matched all six.

Pepin had purchased her lottery ticket online, and the Loto-Québec team delivered the amazing news that she had won $5 million over voicemail.

She logged into her online account to check. “The day’s off to a good start!” she thought when she saw the amount displayed.

Still stunned by the lottery windfall, Pepin told Loto-Québec that she will take some time to think about her plans.

Though her caretaking instincts as a nurse naturally kicked in, as Pepin said, she definitely plans to spoil those she loves.

“I’m going to give gifts to my loved ones, that’s for sure!” she said.

Although $5 million is a pretty hefty prize that others would be comfortable retiring on, Pepin wants to continue working as a nurse, a career she loves.

The next lottery draw is tonight. Lotto Max has $70 million and 10 Maxmillions up for grabs. Saturday’s Lotto 6/49 jackpot has increased to $38 million.

If you haven’t yet, make sure to check your numbers from Tuesday’s draw — three Canadians managed to score the second prize.
