People upset after Metro Vancouver fruit tea shop announces closure of another location
It’s been a rough start to the year for popular Taiwanese fruit tea brand Macu Tea, with the brand announcing the closure of its third location.
“After careful consideration, we will be closing our Richmond Capstan location,” wrote the brand on Instagram. “With deep appreciation for our community’s support, we look forward to what the future may bring.” It will officially close on Tuesday, March 10.
Many took to the comments to share their surprise and frustration at the news.
“What?? Longest lines here. How are they closing every location??” wrote one Instagram user.
“Is it April 1 yet? You mean the long line every time I go means there’s still not enough business?” added another.
“The world is coming to an end,” shared a third.

This news follows the recent closure of Macu’s Burnaby and Robson locations, which officially shuttered on Feb. 23, 2026.
Fans of the tea shop will now only be able to get their fix at its Kerrisdale location at 5971 West Blvd. in Vancouver.

Macu Tea was first founded in 2008 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and has since expanded to multiple locations across Canada and the U.S.
Macu’s claim to fame is its use of fresh fruit teas made with seasonal fruits and high-quality tea leaves. It’s best known for its mango offerings, including a drink called the King of Mango Smoothie, which is a mango slush with fruit chunks, green tea jelly, and coconut milk.
