B.C. winery was just named among the best vineyards in the world

Hot off the heels of multiple new Vancouver restaurants being named the best in Canada and a Vancouver spot being named the best luxury hotel restaurant in Canada, another spot in B.C. is also receiving some culinary recognition.
World’s 50 Best has recently unveiled its list of the best vineyards in the world, and Mission Hill Family Estate in the Okanagan Valley was listed at number 45.
“Thousands of years ago the Okanagan Valley was carved into volcanic rock by slow moving, sediment-depositing glaciers. Mission Hill has stood since 1981. A pioneer grape grower well-versed in sustainable farming practices yet buzzing with modern technology; drones capture aerial views of the vineyards’ health while lightweight Geier machinery allows high-density vine cultivation. Wines are nurtured with new and old-world techniques; concrete fermentation eggs look forward while clay amphora honour the past along with a wide variety of oak barrels. The sum and spirit of Mission Hill results in wines that echo the terroir of this exceptional valley,” wrote 50 Best.
50 Best also went on to give praise to the winery’s many different events, including its Festival of Trees which transforms the estate into a winter wonderland, alongside its year–round offerings like guided tours, four-course wine-paired meals from The Restaurant at Mission Hill, and the program the luxury yacht experience that takes patrons to the winery alongside two other wine estates in the area.
Mission Hill is no stranger to awards, as it has been named Winery of the Year at the WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada six times.
