Here's what's open and closed in Vancouver for the Easter long weekend

Easter is almost here, and for some in Vancouver, that means a long weekend! Before you go ahead and make plans, you might want to see what’s open and closed.

While Friday is officially the stat, many businesses are operating on holiday hours on Monday as well.

Should you find yourself out and about this Easter long weekend, here is what is open and closed on Friday, Sunday, and Monday.

And if you’re ready for some fluffy festivities, hop on down to Capilano Mall on Saturday, April 4, for an egg-citing Spring celebration. Families are invited to the Grand Court from 12 to 3 p.m. for visits and photos with the Easter Bunny, plus fun kids’ activities including cookie decorating and face painting.

Don’t forget to fill your basket with treats fit for a bunny at Guest Services, while supplies last.

And for the first time at Capilano Mall, families can also purchase a photo with the Easter Bunny. Easter Bunny photo sessions will be available on April 4 and April 5 between 12 noon and 5 p.m. Walk-up visits are welcome, but reservations are recommended.

Grocery stores

Many grocery stores are open but may operate reduced hours on the long weekend. The following grocery stores are open, but be sure to check with your local store on what time they’ll be closed:

  • Safeway
  • Superstore
  • Save on Foods
  • No Frills
  • Whole Foods
  • Urban Fare
  • Walmart
  • T&T Supermarket

Reduced hours:

  • BC Liquor stores (Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Costco (9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and closed on Sunday, open regular hours on Monday)

Translink

Friday:

TransLink buses, SeaBus, and SkyTrain services will continue to operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule.

Holiday fares will be in effect, so commuters will only need a 1-Zone fare to travel across all zones. However, the West Coast Express will not be running.

TransLink Customer Service Centre, Access Transit Customer Care Office, and Lost Property Office will be closed.

Monday:

TransLink buses and SeaBus services will operate as they do on weekdays. The SkyTrain will run on standard weekday hours but with reduced peak service.

The West Coast Express will run at its standard reduced frequency:

    • Trains 1, 3, and 5 will operate westbound and eastbound service.
    • Trains 2 and 4 will not operate.

Regular fares will be in effect.

TransLink Customer Service Centre, Access Transit Customer Care Office, and Lost Property Office will be closed.

Community centres

Hours will vary depending on the community centre. Check the hours online.

Other places that are closed

  • Government offices like Canada Post and City Hall
  • Banks (only on Friday, but open Monday)
  • ICBC will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday
  • Public libraries will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, except for the Carnegie Branch, which does not close.
