Hollywood North is bustling as TV and movie productions come to Vancouver this spring, and that includes the new season of The Last of Us.

Season 3 of the hit HBO Max series is scheduled to begin filming in Metro Vancouver from the first week of March until the end of November.

That means for the next nine months, you may get to see the streets of Vancouver turned into a post-apocalyptic version of Seattle.

With Vancouver playing a central role as the primary filming location for the second season, the city has doubled as numerous post-outbreak locales in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Season 2 of this series was one of the most expensive productions ever filmed in British Columbia.

The Last of Us became a global hit after debuting in early 2023, praised for its emotional storytelling, world-building, and faithful adaptation of the popular video game series. Season 2 delved deeper into the storylines, with Vancouver’s urban core, back alleys, and forested outskirts serving as the perfect canvas for the dystopian narrative.

Filming locations for last season included SkyTrain cars, downtown streets, and the Britannia Mine Museum.

Season 3 will pick up the story after the chaotic ending of the last season, with Ellie searching for revenge against Abby.

The show is casting for background actors, including blacksmiths, ferriers, archers, potters, and chandlers.

Fans of The Rookie should keep an eye out for the latest spinoff of the Nathan Fillion hit series, filming around Metro Vancouver this month.

The Rookie: North tells the tale of Alex Holland (Ellis), who joins the Pierce County Police Department as its oldest rookie after experiencing a violent home invasion.

Vancouver and B.C. will be standing in for Washington State, which is the setting of the ABC pilot.
