Spring is officially underway, and while the new week starts with sunshine, dark clouds may be on the horizon for the Vancouver weather forecast.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) told Daily Hive that a Pacific frontal system is coming in overnight from Monday, March 23, into Tuesday, March 24, impacting the South Coast until mid-week.

According to ECCC meteorologist Brian Proctor, the upcoming storm will also bring strong winds to the Metro Vancouver region.

“The big story this week is the winds, especially in the Strait of Georgia,” Proctor told Daily Hive. “This includes Richmond, portions of Vancouver and Ladner.

“The southeasterly winds will gust between 30 and 60 km starting on Tuesday afternoon, though they will begin dropping in the evening.”

Periods of rain in the Vancouver weather outlook will begin on Monday night and last until Wednesday.

Preciptation amounts will range from 15 to 25 mm on the North Shore, and 10 to 15 mm in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
