Hopefully, you had a chance to soak up some sunshine this past weekend in Vancouver, because the weather is about to get mighty wet for the region.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is calling for a return of rain in the Vancouver weather forecast, with a “soaking” expected to start on Tuesday, March 3, as a system comes in.

According to ECCC meteorologist Matt Loney, the region will see a return to more pacific flow with embedded disturbances, and the first is set to arrive overnight.

“We are seeing some decent rain coming in, depending on the location around the Lower Mainland,” said Loney in an interview. “We can expect 10 mm to 15 mm locally, and up to 20 on the North Shore.”

The ECCC meteorologist said that Vancouver will experience more of a showery mid portion of the week, caused by an onshore flow.

However, another system will arrive by the weekend, causing the freezing level to rise.

The high this week is expected to reach 11°C on Monday and Tuesday, and 12°C to start the weekend.

Overnight temperatures will swing up to 8°C on Tuesday and only 3°C on Saturday.

“There will be more rain starting from Friday into Saturday,” added Loney. In the wake of that, there may be a break in the skies to end the weekend, with the potential to dry out.

“However, things will be cloudy and cool next week with more rain expected to return.”

So keep the umbrellas and rain boots handy because things will be wet for a while in the Vancouver weather outlook.
