After a 20-year run in North Vancouver, Burgoo Bistro has announced that it will be closing its Lonsdale location.

“This space has been filled with so much more than food — it’s been laughter, connection, celebrations, and countless memories made with all of you. We are endlessly grateful to our incredible team, our loyal guests, and the community that has supported us,” wrote the restaurant.

Burgoo is known for its homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, pot pies, mac and cheese, and overall good vibes and relaxing atmosphere.

It currently operates locations in downtown Vancouver, Mount Pleasant, and Point Grey (its first location, which openedĀ in December 2001). Burgoo also closed its Kitsilano outpost in 2020.

However, there’s still time to visit its North Vancouver location for one last meal before it officially closes.

“It’s not goodbye just yet — we’ll be here until March 29 and would love for you to come by, share a meal, and help us celebrate all the memories we’ve created together. With full hearts, thank you for 20 amazing years,” concluded the restaurant.

Many took to the comments of the closure announcement to share how much they’d miss the location.

“Oh my heart. So many amazing years there. Lower Lonsdale will never be the same. Burgoo did so much for that area. Wishing the team all the best. Miss you guys!” wrote one Instagram commenter.

“We’ve enjoyed wedding anniversaries, birthdays, and special dinners with family from overseas, and you’re our favourite winter comfort food spot. This is such sad news,” added another.

“This is devastating. We were just there a few weeks ago and commenting how happy we were Burgoo has managed to survive, especially after Raglans closed. The whole west side of the block is now almost completely deserted and will probably get replaced with redevelopment with chains that have none of the character you had. Such a shame for you and for the whole neighbourhood to see local businesses getting pushed out,” shared a third.
