Vancouver's biggest sober tasting event returns with over 50 non-alcoholic makers

Dry January is just around the corner, and Vancouver’s largest tasting event for non-alcoholic drinks is returning to help make the holidays a fun and sober one.

Free Spirit, billed as the city’s biggest non-alcoholic wine, beer, and cocktail tasting, is happening at Mount Pleasant’s Heritage Hall on Monday, Dec. 8.

According to Kurtis Kolt, local sommelier and organizer, next month’s event will have double the number of makers on site than its first sold-out event held earlier this year.

“Whether it’s dubbed non-alc, zero-proof, or alcohol-free – the drinks category enjoyed by those doing Dry January, the sober-curious, and the rest of us continues to grow,” said Kolt in a release.

“[The event offers] the opportunity for attendees to find the perfect pour for holiday shindigs, cozy nights on the couch, on-the-wagon ventures, and cheery hostess gifts.”

There will be over 50 producers from around B.C. and the world for guests to discover at the Heritage Hall.

Non-alcoholic drinks from Vancouver producers will also be poured, including from local favourites Nonny, Strange Fellows Brewing, Edna’s Cocktail Co. and more.
